Asia Cup 2016 Points Table
Bangladesh have got into the act as far as the points table of the Asia Cup is concerned. It was a thrilling win for the hosts as they beat Sri Lanka by 23 runs in Mirpur on Sunday. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Bangladesh made 147 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. The chase for the Lankans was not the swiftest and they were eventually restricted to 124 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.
India led the points table with yet another commanding performance in the Asia Cup 2016. After a thrashing handed out to Bangladesh, the team yet again dug deep after losing early wickets to make it two wins out of two. This time, it was arch-rivals Pakistan on the receiving end. First, the 2009 champions were restricted to a paltry score of 83. Virat Kohli yet again held things together with a sturdy 49, choosing his shots carefully to take the team over the line. There were plenty of hiccups through Mohammad Amir’s fiery spell but India held their nerve in the end.
India defeated Bangladesh by 45 runs in the first match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. Rohit Sharma made 83 runs off 55 balls while youngster H Pandya made 31 runs off 25 deliveries. In the second match of Asia Cup 2016, Sri Lanka beat UAE 14 runs. Sri Lanka made 129 for 8 with Chandimal making 50 runs. In the third match of tournament, Bangladesh defeated UAE handsomely by 51 runs.
